It has been shown that Google collects and stores excessive user data (most of it without the users knowledge).
The other issue for me with Google is it's focus on collecting data for advertising. It should be noted this issue got fixed before any news coverage (but a similar thing has happened with Firefox before ). After a few days, YouTube would not render in its current form and suggested using Chrome for a better experience. As a more recent example of this behaviour, I experienced this when trying Microsoft Edge's preview build on MacOS which is built on Chromium (Chrome's open-source engine). Basically, Google sees search as its main source of profit and does everything to crush small but promising competitors to protect its ad revenue. provides a good (but long) summary of the case. The first one is the anti-trust case against Google. My problems with Google's policies are in different areas: I was referring to the way Google collects a lot of the data. I admit anti-consumer might have been a bit much and I've edited that part out.
Safari versus google chrome for mac password#
If you already have an iPhone (or anything else from the Apple ecosystem) logging into sites will be seamless across different devices and you don't need to pay for a password manager. Firefox is pretty good privacy wise and has a better support of extensions compared to Safari.
